Kentucky box truck driver charged in fatal crash

Traveling in a motor vehicle is so commonplace that most people do not consider the risks that they face when doing so. Unfortunately, a driver who fails to obey traffic signs and related laws can easily cause an accident with serious consequences. In fact, police believe that such an action recently caused a car accident in Kentucky.

The accident happened during the early morning hours of a day in late October. According to reports, a 31-year-old male driver failed to stop at a traffic sign. As a result, his vehicle reportedly struck the passenger side of a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old woman.

The force of the collision is said to have caused the second vehicle to travel approximately 100 yards and roll over. While it is unclear the exact extent of injuries suffered in the collision, reports indicate that five people were transported to the hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

Also unclear is whether criminal charges are expected to be filed against the Kentucky man that police say caused the car accident. Criminal charges can give victims a sense of justice, but even without them, victims have the option of seeking their own justice by filing a personal injury lawsuit in a civil court. If those injured in a motor vehicle collision can prove that their injuries are the result of the defendant’s negligence, they could receive a financial award that will help them cope with hospital costs, lost wages, and other costs associated with their injuries.  A professional with experience with such cases can help victims understand their options and initiate appropriate action.
