There does not necessarily have to be a lot of traffic for Kentucky roadways to be dangerous. If a driver is distracted at the wheel or acting reckless and disregarding traffic laws, it places everyone in the vicinity at risk for serious injuries if a collision occurs. A recent crash involved only one vehicle, the results of which included injuries and a fatality.

Rescuers transported driver to the hospital

It was approximately 2 a.m. on a recent Sunday when a 24-year-old man somehow lost control of steering in his vehicle. He careened off the right side of the road and crashed into a nearby tree. Rescuers responded to the scene and transported the driver to the hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries before being sent home.

There was a passenger in the vehicle when the collision occurred

There was only one vehicle involved in the recent collision. However, the man behind the wheel was not the only occupant in the car at the time. A 23-year-old passenger bore the force of impact as well when the car hit the tree. Sadly, police say that the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coping with the aftermath of a fatal auto accident

When a Kentucky family receives news that a loved one has been fatally injured in a motor vehicle collision, it sends a ripple of grief throughout a household and community. In this state and all others, if driver negligence was a causal factor toward a fatally injured victim’s death, an immediate family member may seek justice by filing a wrongful death claim in a civil court against the person deemed responsible for damages. This type of litigation is stressful and often, emotionally upsetting because details of the loved one’s death will be discussed openly in court. An experienced personal injury law attorney can help alleviate stress by speaking and acting on behalf of a plaintiff in court.
