Multiple arrests during investigation into Kentucky drug overdose

When a death occurs, the family members and the community of the deceased often need answers to help aid in the recovery, especially if it is believed that the death may have been related to illegal activity. In fact, police have recently made three arrests in connection with an investigation related to a drug overdose. The death that sparked the investigation reportedly happened on a day in late December.

While reports include few details about the deceased, police claim that the probe into the incident led them to a 31-year-old man. They claim that detectives arranged to purchase drugs from the man. When they arrived at his home with a search warrant, they claim that he put a small bag in his mouth. They allege that he told officers that he swallowed the bag; however, reports indicate that the bag was later discovered on the floor of the police cruiser.

The investigation also reportedly prompted police to begin surveillance on a second man. While doing so, they reportedly observed a passenger in the man’s vehicle who they say is wanted in another state. A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of heroin, scales, cash and cellphones. The passenger was taken into custody as a result of premeditated murder charges from the other state while the first man faces drug trafficking charges.

People arrested on criminal charges, including those related to an overdose and others, have legal options. While the decisions that they make will likely have a significant impact on the rest of their lives, most people do not have the information they need to fully understand the potential outcomes of each choice. To ensure that they fully understand and that they are treated lawfully as they navigate the criminal justice system, many in Kentucky feel that it is beneficial to ask a professional with experience with such cases to help them as they make these pivotal decisions.
